Hmm, looks like maybe he was "not consistently candid in his communications with the board"... Now where have I heard this before?

s3p 23 minutes ago | parent

What a sticky situation to be in. it was strange to see the Nvidia spokespeople so outwardly supportive of the arrangement between them at first. I remember reading that they said the US government would have let them know if she was a threat. Also probably doesn't feel the best to be his wife or family right now. Hope this doesn't spell more problems for them politically. But if it does, it's probably warranted ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The fall of Jensen Huang was not on my bingo card for this year.

paxy 20 minutes ago | parent

"Fall" is a bit premature. He is too valuable to the company to fire.

BadBadJellyBean 20 minutes ago | parent

Everything is possible. But I agree it's too early to call. But still...

arthurcolle 16 minutes ago | parent

He is definitely on his way out. Name a single F500 CEO that has ever survived an affair admission

paxy 14 minutes ago | parent

Name a single F500 CEO who was in this situation while running a $5 trillion company

madaxe_again 14 minutes ago | parent

Aye. It'll be 25% off the market cap tomorrow, as the location of the CEO's penis is the most important thing in business performance.

malux85 12 minutes ago | parent

It is important when it's inside a nation state spy (allegedly)

diath 12 minutes ago | parent

Jeff Bezos?

arthurcolle 9 minutes ago | parent

No longer CEO of Amazon

paxy 8 minutes ago | parent

He resigned many years after the affair became public

arthurcolle 6 minutes ago | parent

He did have to give up a large chunk of equity in that divorce

rvz 11 minutes ago | parent

Elon Musk

arthurcolle 6 minutes ago | parent

This one is good, I'll grant this an honorable mention. My instinct here is to say that serial unmarried "bachelors" / IVF enthusiasts don't count in the same way as a Jensen or a bank CEO type.

paulpauper 8 minutes ago | parent

No one is immune when it comes to a public company. Private is a different matter.

…for possibly being the target of a foreign intelligence operation. I don’t think they are trying to say he himself was intentionally doing something bad.

Maybe the title should be changed?

2OEH8eoCRo0 17 minutes ago | parent

Foreign intelligence didn't force him to have an affair. He should be smart enough to spot a honeypot.

hbarka 15 minutes ago | parent

So guilty until proven innocent?

viklove 14 minutes ago | parent

Seems like there are a lot of NVDA shareholders/fanboys in the comments rushing in to defend a billionaire.

100721 4 minutes ago | parent

This is HackerNews. Folks here simp for billionaires all the time, and the userbase skews ultra-wealthy.

hackyhacky 4 minutes ago | parent

They probably live in the same data center as the Musk fanboys.

InsideOutSanta 14 minutes ago | parent

This is not a court.

NooneAtAll5 11 minutes ago | parent

why would that matter?

hackyhacky 6 minutes ago | parent

Because "guilty until proven innocent" applies to courts. You can get fired from your job even without evidence that meets a specific legal threshold.

Moreover, he's already been proven to be both unethical enough and stupid enough to cheat on his wife with a foreign agent. That's not the kind of person that the board would want to run a multi-billion dollar company.

nullishdomain 12 minutes ago | parent

> In his own memo to staff, Huang said he was “deeply sorry” for the affair.

> “I was unfaithful to my wife,” he said. “My actions hurt her and our children. There is no excuse for what I did.”

aigalaxiome 6 minutes ago | parent

Where's the proof? I find it very hard to believe.

hackyhacky 4 minutes ago | parent

You find it hard to believe that a man would cheat on his wife?

ReptileMan 7 minutes ago | parent

Is he? Billionaires being sexually desirable is not exactly uncommon occurrence.

viklove 17 minutes ago | parent

Not intentionally, but falling for a honey trap while cosplaying as a playboy is not a good look for an exec. Huang just showing he's a bit of a child at the wheel.

paulpauper 18 minutes ago | parent

Damn things just got real. down 3% on XYZ platform

Sending women to spy on powerful man, oldest trick in the book...

king_magic 16 minutes ago | parent

Really disappointing.

ViktorRay 15 minutes ago | parent

It’s interesting one sees so many cases of intelligence services using female agents to target men in this way.

Why doesn’t it happen the other way around as much? Why don’t you see intelligence services using male agents to target powerful women in a similar way as much?

BeetleB 12 minutes ago | parent

Which woman do you think would make a valuable target?

Xeronate 12 minutes ago | parent

if you google it you will see its not true other than men holding the majority of positions of power

zugi 12 minutes ago | parent

There's no explanation of whether he got sextorted, or what the plan was to get sensitive information from him.

Or was the plan just to publicly humiliate him in hopes he'd get replaced by someone less capable?

rvz 6 minutes ago | parent

Definitely blackmailed, sextorted for sensitive information about Nvidia.

Either he was going to admit it himself or the other side would have leaked it. Jensen ruined it for himself.

The plan was likely to leak this, and get Lori Huang to file a divorce to take 50% of Jensen's NVDA shares.

So it is all up to her now.

yieldcrv 11 minutes ago | parent

obvious Lou Pai style play here

they’re setting in motion a plan to get a divorce judge to order the selling of their shares before the bubble bursts

making an otherwise prohibited transaction to be legal

I don’t think that was totally planned during the affair, but the opportunity arised with the election and created a reason for Jensen to admit it so decisively after everyone knows she was a spy

baxtr 10 minutes ago | parent

They say any man can be seduced by one of these three: money, drugs or sex.

Or as Charlie Munger put it: There are only three ways a smart person can go broke: Liquor, ladies, and leverage.“

paulpauper 6 minutes ago | parent

I don't think he's at any risk of going broke. At worst he will lose his job and NVDA stock will suffer a brief setback.

sheikhnbake 4 minutes ago | parent

I hope he lands on his feet after the dust settles. This job market sucks. Hope his $160 billion net worth will keep him afloat between gigs

metalspot 8 minutes ago | parent

The better question would be who is leaking classified US intelligence in an attempt to blackmail Jensen Huang and/or destroy the US's most valuable AI infrastructure asset?

The attack isn't coming from China. It is coming from the NY Times, FT, and presumably some employees of the CIA who are committing felonies.

aigalaxiome 7 minutes ago | parent

100%!!!

collabs 5 minutes ago | parent

I wouldn't be surprised if we see some polymarket or kalshi bet about nVidia... Or some put option...

aigalaxiome 8 minutes ago | parent

China targets everyone of consequence, of course they targeted Jensen. This may be a 'game of thrones' nefarious move by hostile foreign or domestic parties who want to wrest defacto control, perhaps angle to put their puppet in control, or otherwise leverage Nvidia by taking down its Founder and CEO. It is completely unproven and should not be assumed that Jensen nor Nvidia took part in anything untoward at all. Historically, Jensen doesn't do stupid. So whether you like him or not, I do not believe he would be that stupid.

reducesuffering 5 minutes ago | parent

No, Jensen has admitted in a memo to employees he had an affair.

etchalon 7 minutes ago | parent

Will remain CEO and suffer no consequences.

paxy 5 minutes ago | parent

If they pull the thread enough they might find Huang was complicit in the illegal shipments of Nvidia GPUs to China via Singapore. The connection with Megaspeed (Singapore-based data center and cloud company) is too hard to ignore.
